Conscious Corner.. Another One

Well, another one has drifted out of our world and on to the next, whatever that may be.  Who am I speaking of?  Whitney Houston.  You don't have to be a receiver of mainstream media to have heard the news; Whitney found dead at 48 years young in a Beverly Hills Hotel.  Seems that in the last few years so many have expired I can't help but wonder, what price fame?

Whether you were a fan or not, no one can say Ms Houston hasn't left her Indelible mark on the music industry.  Stepping out on a global stage in the 1980s becoming a Pop Diva on a meteoric rise that took her to the stars and back again.  The ride down however not anywhere near as glamorous or kind.

Somewhere in the mix of the fame, fortune and adoring fans there are also all the personal demons and struggles that any human faces, except theirs / hers became fodder for the tabloids.  Imagine what it must be like to see stories about you being pumped up and out like a never ending machine whose sole food source are the souls of those who have be granted the golden ticket. Truth is lost in translation and suffers greatly under the guise of speculation, interpretation and sales. 

Today there are celebrities who have become famous from their stories in the tabloids.  They have turned the machine into their own personal ATMs but even with their careful cultivation of their tabloid image they too one day cry foul as lines get crossed and the headlines go too far. 

Amy Winehouse, Heath Ledger, who could forget Micheal Jackson and now Whitney Houston have all passed - before their time - in the last several years and to me it is just plain sad that such talent should be silenced.  The burning question that begs to be asked, had they somehow ended up Sales People,  or a Doctor, a Restauranteur, an Office Person or Entrepreneur, where would they be now?

"Go in Peace and be at rest"
