Hope is about the possible

Hope is about the possible; despair is about the impossible. -Thomas Aquinas, 231

We despair when we see no way out. When all we see is the impossible. This is true of youth in the inner city who see no way out but prison or death. This is the case with many people who kill or rob or steal and end up in prison. Despair has often taken them there. We humans are very adept at seeing the impossible and dwelling on it until it takes over our souls.
Hope and those who bring it are looking for possibility, for angles, for creative solutions, to alternatives. Their souls and imaginations have to remain alive and above all creative. Artists know this. This is their vocation, to tell the truth but always within the context of the possible. /i>
